2 Reasons to Buy the Fallout 4 Season Pass & 3 to Wait
Bethesda’s first Fallout 4 DLC announcement included some big changes to the Fallout 4 Season Pass for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
In February, Bethesda confirmed plans to bring DLC (Downloadable Content) to its open-world role-playing game. The company confirmed three pieces of DLC: Automatron, Wasteland Workshop and Far Harbor.
The company’s released two of those add-ons but there are still some mysteries that gamers must contend with.
Automatron and Wasteland Workshop are out and Far Harbor will be released sometime next month. A specific release date isn’t known.
The developer also says that it plans to release more Fallout 4 DLC later in the year but those add-ons remains in the shadows. For now.
If you want to buy Fallout 4 DLC add-ons on their own, you can do that. Automatron is $10, Wasteland Workshop is $5 and Far Harbor will be $25. You can also buy them together via the Fallout 4 Season Pass.
The Fallout 4 Season Pass is available for all three systems (Xbox One, PS4 and PC) but its price has changed since it went on sale
Bethesda originally said that its upcoming Fallout 4 DLC would be worth $40 but it’s singing a much different tune now.
@Kisdra it's not a one to one comparison. but you'll certainly be getting as much or more content than you get in $60 games
— Pete Hines (@DCDeacon) February 17, 2016
Bethesda’s Fallout 4 Season Pass is no longer $40. It’s $50. For $50 you get Automatron, you get Wasteland Workshop, you get Far Harbor, and you get the rest of the upcoming Fallout 4 DLC, whenever it arrives. It’s a tempting proposition but it’s not for everyone.
With that in mind, I want to outline a few reasons why you might want to buy the Fallout 4 Season Pass right now. I also want to outline some reasons to wait.
Keep these reasons in mind as we push away from the Wasteland Workshop release date toward the the rest of the Fallout 4 DLC.
You Love Fallout 4 & Want More
If you're hooked on Fallout 4 and you foresee yourself playing it in the distant future, Bethesda's Season Pass is probably going to be worth it to you. Bethesda's free Fallout 4 mods will add tons of content but the DLC delivers unique experiences that you probably won't get from third-party developers. For instance, Far Harbor will bring the largest landmass for an add-on that Bethesda's ever created. Larger than The Shivering Isles even. It'll be "filled with new faction quests, settlements, lethal creatures and dungeons." It'll also bring "new, higher-level armor and weapons." Unique items, unique new adventures and more will help to extend your experience in the wasteland. So if you're still logging into Fallout 4 for a few hours a day or more, you like the direction Bethesda's going, and you can see yourself investing more time into Bethesda's epic adventure, the Season Pass will probably be worth it to you.

Never read such an idiotic article in my life. It’s not buying a f**king car. No need for such a long and drawn out article that blathers on about nonsense. I seriously just read an article about being cautious of spending $30 for some idiotic fear that upcoming DLCs will be nothing like the game itself. Have you ever played a Fallout game prior to Fallout 4? Another argument is that you could save a few dollars. I would rather pay the full $30 than to have read this stupid article.
People spend hundreds of dollars on gaming equipment and accessories. Can you imagine if someone wrote a dissertation about why waiting til after Halloween to buy candy is breakthrough financial advice?
Me neither.
“Hey, everyone!. I saved thirty cents on a bag of thumb sized Snickers! Better go get on the internet and write a 7-page article telling people not to ever buy candy because of this inside knowledge I have!”
Get a life.

Nice straw man Nick. Maybe next time you could take a breather or two and think about what you want to post, rather than arguing from emotion.
“Get a life.”
A gamer telling someone else to get a life? Oh, the irony.

I’m with Nick on this one; though I may have worded it differently. Considering how long the game was in development I assume that the DLC will keep it running for the long haul. Sure, I could wait 5 years and buy the game and all of the DLC on a steam sale for $11.49 but I’ll want it as it comes out. $30 isn’t something that I’ll lose sleep over.
Also, in order for Nicks comment to be taken as “irony” one would have to assume that gamers are socially reclusive. however, its been a while since I’ve seen a gamer like that. (theres a joke in there somewhere.)

Dude telling a gamer to get a life is like telling a basketball player or a baseball player to get a life. and btw gamers have multiple lives don’t ya know ;)

You are allowed to express your own opinion but the way you do it was clearly wrong. You need to know that some articles are just not that impressive. Everyone has the right to decide how to dispose their money wisely and reasonably and no need to be harsh on people. For you a $30 season pass is not worth considering but you might be tangled about how to pay up your mortgage. Billionaires have never thought buying a house is a problem. Can you do the same? and being told to get a life?

You read the article that you didn’t want to read. Article that sates right from the beginning its intentions, yet you cry, get hostile about something you didn’t want to do yet you did. Then you tell the author to get a life and use word idiotic. How ironic is that.
You sound like a dimwitted kid spending the whole life on video games and blame the whole world for your failures.

You know what’s dumber than writing a long article on something pointless?
Spending time writing out a long, pointless response to a useless article.

If you purchased the digital download you got a HELL of a bargain with everything costing you 30 bucks a piece. Fallout 4, fallout 3 (if you didn’t have it before) and the season pass. Why would you pass on that? Saving a few bucks in the front end to pay more in the back in doesn’t make sense.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas had great DLC and I am glad they are offering a season pass so it will be a little cheaper. All the DLC for Fallout 3 ran for $50 and New Vegas was $40 for all of the story add-ons. New Vegas in particular had fantastic DLC that was so good that it surpassed the base game in my opinion. I bought the season pass because I just had to have those vault boy socks.
If your a Fallout fan then I say go for it.

Have you ever played a Bethesda game? Their DLC’s are what every games DLC’s should look up to. If you enjoy fallout 4 you shouldn’t even give the season pass a second thought before buying it. I have no doubts whether or not its worth it.

So.. I have a question .If i buy DLC now do i get anything? Or am i just pre paying for expansions that will come out? I dont wanna fork out 30 bux and have to wait. I would rather wait and then pay…Im not having any luck finding any info on what this season pass is even a pass to.So far it sounds like im just handing over cash with nothing in return
Jari Lipponen
11/29/2015 at 6:45 am
You get nothing immediatedly. Thats the issue, on one hand if you buy the pass now and the DLCs are top quality you’ll save money. On the other hand those DLCs might as well be a load of horse armor. However if you don’t buy the pass you risk paying (a lot) more to get the whole load later. The DLCs are a quaranteed deal, only their quality is in question. So you will get SOMETHING, it’s just ‘will it be worth the cash’?

I mainly agree with Nick here. It is a really bloated article with not much substance. Much of it could be summarized in a few bullet points and are common sense (eg the actual contents of the pass haven’t been revealed nor its quality).
The article is click bait to raise revenue for the site.
On the other hand, some people are more frugal with money. They should write lame click bait articles and make revenue from them.

Hey fellow vault dwellers. Just trying to be thrown a bone here.
Since I am an Aussie FiFo worker on barrow island I work away for 23 days and only home for 10 days, I most likely wont be playing FALLOUT4 on my works ps4 as I require sleep so play smaller online games for bordem fixation.
Would it be of a greater advantage for me to buy the season pass now due to my unfortunately low game time on this amazing game as these DLC’s will most probably become available while Im still in the early stages of my Fallout4 game play.
All of your opinions would be helpful in my decision on this.
Thanks fellas and lady’s

You are never going to finish the main game so you are never going to finish the DLC.
I had to take leave from work because I had accumulated an excessive amount of leave. I decided to only play Fallout 4 during that week. Playing for 10 days a month means you will take a year or so to finish.

Go ahead and get it save yourself a few bucks. Don’t worry about finishing it my 9 year old finished in one week end level 26 so its not to hard. It all depends on how you play. Me on the other hand I just finished at level 76. Have you a good time and just play its worth every min spent. Just be carful of anyone offering you decompression pods they don’t work all that well.

the important question is: who the f**k is gottabemobile.com? when did they become a trusted and reputable source for gaming advice? they are just another dime-a-dozen, click bait site that crowds up the search results when I am trying to seek out gaming news because they jump on trends to get traffic. This article clearly comes from a writer that shows they have ZERO experience with The Fallout series or Elder Scrolls by stating “You don’t know what you’re getting for $30, exactly”.Well…sorry to sh*t on your garbage “consumer journalism” piece but i can assure you from what we received with Skyrim, Fallout 3, and New Vegas; Bethesda is going to deliver on that $30 value mark and then some. Do yourselves a favor folks and go to IGN or Kotaku for gaming news and stop making the same mistake I did by visiting this site (and sites like it).

Reason why you SHOULD buy the season pass now.
1. It’s $30 bucks, not a mortgage
2. Bethesda, like 2K and Rockstar are a bunch of artists that take pride in their work and never put out content to simply make a quick buck like those schmucks at EA. Support your favorite developers and artists no matter the medium,(music, tv, games, etc) and if the product begins to dissapoint, discontinue the support.
I couldn’t imagine writing an article like this as a fan of Fallout who appreciates the efforts of the fine people at ,Bethesda

I love fallout and found this post really helpful. I had been pondering the purchase of this game since it was announced. Do I buy it straight away despite possible bugs, do I wait for the game of year addition, do I wait for it to be reduced? Similar questions have been rattling around my head in relation to the Season Pass.
Personally if you find this page useless, just walk away, there truly is no need to become aggressive to it’s creator.

I’m sorry you don’t have the ability to think for yourself and need someone to spell it out for you. There is no inside information written by the creator that couldn’t be deduced by an intelligent human being.

If $30 is “money to burn” you shouldn’t be buying video games at all.

“If you absolutely love Fallout 4, have money to burn, and know you’re going to want to play everything that Bethesda releases, by all means go ahead and pick up the $30 Season Pass”
Just WTF does that mean? That statement is one of the dumbest things I’ve read on the internet.
This is like saying:
‘If you really love a Ferrari and have heaps of money to burn and know you’re going to drive it & pick up chicks, by all means buy a Ferrari”

You’re seriously not going to suggest doubling your value for the Season Pass buy purchasing it now? Riiight, because buying something for $30 and getting $60 worth of product is a totally stupid idea. AND you’re granted access to any future DLC past THAT, too! It’s not an issue that needs an entire article written about it, dumbass.

Holy christ! Fellas if u dont like what someone has to say…DON’T READ IT, MOVE ON. SO after reading his “dissertation” on why spending $30 on a Season pass now before it jumps to $60 in the near future, is a wise choice. Then i gotta read ur “dissertation” as to why its a stupid article. Dont become what u hate…practice what u preach. Remember u always have the freedom to F Off. Dont read it like theres not enough crap on the internet to read. U gotta pick on some guy just wants to feel like hes doin something productive. And apparently it serves another purpose…giving losers like u the feeling of accomplishing something by raging on some poor guy expressing his right to say what he wants…
John

If u ask me, i think ur just trying to have a “Dissertation” swinging contest…someone’s a lil insecure…lol you DO have the right to whine about what u read…but cant we all just get along…why is it the ONLY time we can come together, is when there’s a disaster. Come on ppl get some purpose.

I loved the games but was so dissapointed to find i couldnt play half of new vegas’ dlc because of this. the save files got a little bigger every time you saved? -played on ps3

The one thing I am surprised wasn’t the main item not to buy it…..It’s not the price tag or the reviews…..it’s simply that you beat it months ago and you don’t want to come back to a game where you already murdered everyone and aren’t sure how the DLC impacts that aspect. If it’s just more land mass and more dangerous creatures as noted in the article then the season pass DLC wasn’t worth my purchase/wait (I don’t care if it is valued at 100+ bucks). Probably need a new faction or two to kill off or easy resourcing for building or something to get me back in there. Alternatively a new game+ option might be fun if I get to keep either armor or skills for example.
