Apple focuses on two distinct areas for the OS X El Capitan update, a marked shift from the feature-packed OS X Yosemite update that delivered enhanced iPhone and Mac connectivity in 2014. This change will hopefully deliver a more stable experience without WiFi issues and other struggles.
The OS X 10.11 update runs on all Macs capable of running OS X Yosemite, which means this is a free update for a large number of devices. Users who are on older Macs should read reviews before installing as upgrades can slow performance on older machines, even when the update specifically adds performance enhancing capabilities.

There are a number of important, but small visual changes to OS X El Capitan and the Apple apps that come with OS X 10.11. Many of the new OS X El Capitan features will help you use your Mac better, especially when you need to use a smaller Mac screen and use two apps at the same time.

The most exciting OS X El Capitan feature to arrive for multitasking users is the new Split View mode. OS X Yosemite allowed users to place two windows side by side, but now it is easier to snap the windows to the left or right without the need to manually size them. On OS X Yosemite the Gotta Be Mobile team used HyperDock and BetterSnapTool to get a similar snap feature that let us move a window to the side, but now OS X 10.11 builds this support right in. With the new OS X El Capitan Split View feature users can put two apps up side by side with a split view of the things they need most, swipe back to a desktop easily and create new spaces that remember your app split. | |||||||||||||

Hi, thanks for your article, very informative.
I installed El Capitan yesterday but found out that the Mac Book mid 2009 won’t support three finger gestures, nor the two finger swipe gestures introduced in mail. :-(
Haven’t found that mentioned anywhere.

Why did I ever purchase Macbook Air I upgraded to Al Capitan and had email problems ever since. How can I manage my inbox mail when Apple delete it before I have time to action it.

The download will pop up automatically in App store. There is a simple “upgrade” button….and that´s that! Totally free……..Remember the last free upgrades from Microsoft? lol….me neither…..
