Should I buy AppleCare+ or insurance from Verizon, AT&T or other iPhone 6s warranty and insurance options. Here is a comparison of the best iPhone 6s warranty and insurance options, how they compare and what they cover.
We’ll take a look at AppleCare+, the out of warranty iPhone 6s replacement costs, carrier insurance, third-party iPhone 6s warranty options and insurance plans. We’ll also explain the difference between iPhone 6s warranty and insurance options.
You can protect your iPhone 6s with a great case, the perfect screen protector and carry your phone with the tightest grip, but there are still times when you will drop the iPhone onto a rough surface.
One reason you may not need an iPhone 6s warranty that covers accidental is the better water resistance built-in to the iPhone 6s.
If you need to by a new iPhone 6s after yours breaks you’re looking at a potential out of pocket cost of $649 and up if it is lost or a repair bill of $299 to $329 without a warranty.
Most of the iPhone warranty options have an up front cost of $99 to $129 with a deductible of $75 to $99, or a monthly cost of around $9-10 a month with a deductible of roughly $200 for iPhone 6s insurance.
How to Check iPhone Warranty Status
You can check to see what your iPhone warranty coverage currently is using the Apple Service and Support tool.
You need to find your iPhone serial number and enter it on the Apple website where you will see what options you have for phone, chat and in person support as well as coverage from broken hardware or accidental damage.
To find your iPhone serial number you can plug into iTunes and it will show up on the info screen about your iPhone or you can go to Settings -> General -> About -> Serial Number. Tap and hold briefly to bring up a Copy option so you can text it to yourself or enter it on the support page using your iPhone.
iPhone 6s Warranty vs iPhone 6s Insurance
There is one major difference between iPhone 6s warranty options and iPhone 6s insurance options.
The biggest difference is that insurance plans typically cover lost and stolen iPhones, while a warranty only covers problems with your phone.
With the iPhone 6s warranty options listed here you get free replacements for hardware failures, but if you need a replacement for an accidental break you’ll need to pay a fee.
iPhone 6s insurance plans typically cost more than warranty plans because it includes instances where the phone is missing because it was stolen or lost.
Do I Need Insurance or a Warranty?
While you will need to analyze what happens with your iPhone, and think about what you need, most users only need an iPhone 6s warranty.
If you think over the next year or two you will drop your iPhone 6s into water, onto concrete or run it over with your car — but that you will be able to bring part of it to a company for replacement, you should look into a warranty.
For users who worry about dropping the iPhone 6s into a lake and not getting it back or theft, insurance is the obvious choice — even with the higher price.

- T-Mobile – Included with Jump! $175 deductible
- AT&T – 6.99 a month to $9.99 a month – $199 deductible with 25-50% discount over time.
- Sprint – $11 to $13 a month – $200 deductible

The credit card coverage is handy, but it only covers certain items, so make sure you follow all the rules if you plan to use it. It’s more of a bonus than anything else.
If you want to avoid buying protection, plan for the iPhone 6s out of warranty replacement costs and repairs listed above.
