21 Best Fallout 4 Easter Eggs & Secrets
Fallout 4 has been out for a few months now but we continue to see new secrets and easter eggs emerge. If you don’t have time to fire up your game and find them all, take a look at our list. It runs down the best Fallout 4 easter eggs and secrets worth knowing about.
The Fallout 4 release date has come and gone but that hasn’t stopped the flow of information. There’s still an update that needs to be released, DLC that needs to roll out, and secrets to be found in Bethesda’s massive world.
We’ve kept the spotlight on Fallout 4 in the weeks since launch as we’ve outlined crucial tips, the best Fallout 4 mods to try, and fixes for Fallout 4 problems. Of which there are many. Today, we want to take a look at another exciting part of Fallout 4.
Best Fallout 4 Easter Eggs
Fallout 4 is a large game and large games almost always come with a ton of easter eggs and secrets. Some of these are easy to spot, others take a herculean effort. PC, Xbox One and PS4 users have spotted a great number of Fallout 4 easter eggs and today we want to highlight a few of our favorites.
Stonehenge
Stonehenge is one of the most iconic locations on planet earth so it’s no wonder Todd Howard and his team put a replica in Fallout 4.

The Fallout 4 version of Stonehenge features cars, rather than massive stones, and it can be found pretty early on in the game below Sanctuary and Concord.
Gary Vault 108
If you played Fallout 3 you probably stumbled into Vault 108, also known as the Gary Vault. It was one of the stranger locations in the game and it remains a fan favorite.
If you love Vault 108, you’ll love the reference that Bethesda included in Fallout 4. The Gary easter egg is in Vault 75. Here’s what it looks like.

Toy Story Monkey
If you’ve played Fallout 4, you’ve probably seen the creepy monkey with cymbals that lights up and starts making a racket when you get close to it.
If you’ve seen Toy Story 3, then you know that the monkey is one of the character’s in the movie. We’ve found this monkey all over the wasteland and it’s a direct reference to Pixar’s fantastic animated movie from 2010.
Donkey Kong
Fallout 4 features several mini games that you’ll acquire via holotapes and play via the Pip Boy. One of them is called Red Menace.
Red Menace is a tribute to Donkey Kong, a Nintendo favorite, and a favorite of many kids who grew up in the 1980’s. (Like me.)
Jaws
If you’ve seen Jaws, you’re going to love this Fallout 4 easter egg because it depicts one of the film’s most iconic scenes. Only instead of a great white shark you get a mutant-like shark.
Once you find this scene on the map, make sure you take a look under the boat and you’ll find the shark cage. Just make sure you have Rad-X and Rad-Away handy.
UFO Event
Do you want the alien blaster? (You do.) Would you like to trigger the game’s hidden UFO event? (Of course.) This easter egg is one of the best Fallout 4 secrets and it’s a must try for anyone that wants to improve their arsenal.
You’ll need to find the location on the map (Vault 75) but once you do, you’ll be battling aliens and taking alien loot home with you.
Submarine
If you’re in the mood to go for a dip, you can wade out into the waters off the coast and find a submersible to explore. There’s even a quest to do.
We don’t want to spoil anything but if you want to find the Fallout 4 hidden submarine, take a look at the video above.
Rocket Building
There is an odd structure located on a rock formation near Fort Hagen. If you head inside, you’ll find something pretty cool.
Inside you’ll find a bunch of canisters that you can shoot off, almost like fireworks.
Underwater Secret
We’re still not sure if Bethesda is planning to expand the world of Fallout 4 to the depths of the Glowing Sea but it’s certainly a possibility now that gamers have discovered a secret lurking below the depths.
This location is a little tricky to find but it’s worth it. This is one of the coolest Fallout 4 easter eggs and it leaves the door open for future content.
Skyrim Nirnroot
If you’ve played Elder Scrolls, the most recent game is Skyrim, then you probably know about the plant called Nirnroot. If don’t know about Nirnroot, just know that it’s a powerful glowing plant that you can collect in the game. (If you don’t care about spoilers, watch the video below.)
Without spoiling the game, in Fallout 4 you’ll find a research station. Inside that research station, you’ll find an experimental plant. That experimental plant looks a whole lot like Nirnroot. The name isn’t mentioned but there are some not-so-subtle hints contained within a terminal.
It’s not clear what this link means for future games but it does look like Elder Scrolls and Fallout might be set in the same universe. Which, if you’ve played both series, is pretty mind-blowing.
Lone Wanderer
If you’ve played Fallout 3, then you probably know that the main character is referred to as the Lone Wanderer. In Fallout 4, the character is referred to as the Sole Survivor.
In Fallout 4, there is a tribute to Fallout 3’s protagonist in the form of a decal on a motorcycle. It’s pretty early on in the game so you shouldn’t have a problem finding it.
Diamond City Christmas
In case you haven’t noticed, the date changes in Fallout 4. And at some point, the calendar is going to reach Christmas Day.
To celebrate, the inhabitants of Diamond City have set up decorations (complete with lights and trees) to celebrate.
Ted Williams Seat
Fenway Park features an iconic red set that’s a tribute to one of the greatest baseball players ever to put on a uniform.
The red seat honors a massive home run hit by legend Ted Williams. For those that are wondering, it’s Section 42, Row 37, Seat 21.
https://youtu.be/H6JCofRpNcs
Bethesda has included it in the game and you can find it if you do a little poking around in Diamond City. The video above will show you where it is.
Edger Allen Poe
If you’re familiar with the famous scribe Edger Allen Poe you’ll probably get a kick out of this Fallout 4 easter egg.
There is a reference to the Poe story Cask of Amontillado in the game and the video above will show you exactly where it is. (The Castle catacombs if you don’t want to watch.)
Alien
If you happen upon a piece of junk called Flux Sensor, make sure you inspect it, especially if you have a fondness for the Alien movies.
I found a very well hidden Alien (1979) reference in Fallout 4
Inspect the object and flip it over. There, you’ll find a serial number. This number is actually the ID of the main ship featured in Alien, the Nostromo.
Blade Runner
Blade Runner is arguably one of the best science fiction films of all time. So naturally, Bethesda’s included a couple of references to the game inside Fallout 4.
One of the references is pretty obvious if you’ve seen the film. There is a noodle joint in Diamond City run by a robot called Takahashi. In Blade Runner, Harrison Ford’s character enjoys a bowl served by a man who only speaks Japanese.
The other reference is a recreation of a famous scene in the movie. It can be found on the roof of the Mass Fusion Containment Shed.
Cheers
Of course there is a Cheers reference in Fallout 4.
If you head into the Prost Bar, you’ll find some skeletons sitting at the bar. Poor Fallout 4 versions of Cliff, Sam, and Norm.
Good Will Hunting
If you head into the C.I.T. building and go to the top floor, you’ll find a reference to the classic movie Good Will Hunting.
This is another easter egg that you’ll be able to find pretty early on in the game so if you love the movie, take a peek.
Sons of Anarchy
Sons of Anarchy is another popular show and it’s another Fallout 4 easter egg that you can take a look at during your travels.
If you are familiar with the character Opie Winston, played by Ryan Hurst, you’re probably going to pick up on this little reference.
ted
Want to see a teddy bear sitting on the toilet? Bet you do.
Search near Forest Grove Marsh and you’ll find a reference to the movie ted.
Walking Dead
And finally, what would Fallout 4 be without a reference to one of the best television shows out right now?

Wow, there are actually a lot more easter eggs than I thought. I don’t if this counts, but I really loved finding the Grognak the Barbarian armour and battle axe, especially with my melee character since it really boosted my damage.

Whoa, whoa, whoa there. The cymbal-banging monkeys are not a Toy Story reference. They are a reference to cymbal-banging monkey toys, which have been around since the 50s. Toy Story was referencing older toys obviously. Does that make sense to you? God I hate internet people. Read a book once in a while.

The monkey isn’t a toy story reference, or if it was meant to be it was an extremely weak one… All that monkey is, is a creepy Japanese toy from the 50’s – 70’s called “Musical Jolly Chimp.” Does anyone do research anymore before they say stuff or does everyone have to end up being the turd in the punch bowl?
