7 Reasons Not to Buy Black Ops 3 on PS3 & Xbox 360
Six months after the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 release date, there are still many reasons to skip the Black Ops 3 Xbox 360 or PS3 version and wait to play until you can upgrade to the Xbox One or PS4. You may even want to wait it out and upgrade to a new console and to the Call of Duty 2016 release this fall.
Specifically there are seven good reasons not to buy Black Ops 3 on Xbox 360 or PS3. Of course this could just as easily be why you need to buy the PC, Xbox One or PS4 Black Ops 3 game, but if it was that easy you would likely already own a newer console.
We know that not everyone can afford the PS4 or Xbox One, but there are price drops that make the consoles easier to afford for some and there are many deals, which can ease the pain of upgrading.
There is a reason that the PS3 and Xbox 360 Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 game is $10 less than the Xbox One, PS4 and PC version — and from the looks of it that still might be too expensive for what you are missing out on. Even as deals drop the price of the PS3 and Xbox 360 Black Ops 3 game to $29.99, you should think before you buy.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 release date arrived on November 6th for all consoles and PC. In 2016 we saw Black Ops 3 DLC come to the PS3, but it is not a sign that all of the DLC is coming.
Xbox One & PS4 Black Ops 3 vs Xbox 360 and PS3
Treyarch is making Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, but they are only responsible for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC release. A different developer translated that experience to a console with less power, and that means this is not the same game on both platforms.
On the upside you still get Zombies and Specialists on the PS3 and Xbox 360 Black Ops 3 game and you get a digital copy of the original Black Ops game.
What you need to know about the PS3 & Xbox 360 Black Ops 3 game compared to the PS4, Xbox One and PC version.
We’re not just talking about graphical differences between the Xbox 260 or PS3 and the Xbox One and PS4 — these are missing features, missing options and limitations that buyers need to know about.
Here’s why you should skip the Xbox 360 and PS3 Black Ops 3 release and wait to play until you can upgrade to the Xbox One, PS4 or PC.
Slow PS3 & Xbox 360 Black Ops 3 Updates
Since the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 release date we’ve seen dozens of hotfixes for PS4, Xbox One and PC deliver fast fixes and changes to the game major Black Ops 3 updates in November and December.
In that same period we’ve seen only a few Xbox 360 and PS3 Black Ops 3 updates deliver some fixes to Multiplayer and Zombies, but not to the same depth or with the same speed as on Xbox One and PS4. In 2016 we are seeing more updates on the older consoles, but it is not at the same speed.
No Split Screen Black Ops 3 on Xbox 360 or PS3
If you like to play locally with a friend, the Xbox 360 and PS3 Black Ops 3 release is not going to satisfy you.
Activision confirms, “The split screen feature is only available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.”
No Campaign for Black Ops 3 on Xbox 360 or PS3
While many players only get Call of Duty games for the online multiplayer experience, we’ve seen more effort put into the campaign mode each year. This year is no different with big names making digital appearances in the action and an option to play co-op campaign mode.
But, you cannot play the campaign on Xbox 360 or PS3 versions of Black Ops 3. Jason Blundell, Director of Campaign & Zombies at Treyarch explains to Eurogamer why they made this call,
“We being Treyarch, we’re only looking at the current-gen stuff, so PS4 and Xbox One. And when we hear the old-gen stuff start having to take things away to be able to make it perform on those machines… they’re like, ‘okay, we’re going to have to lose this, and lose that, and bring this back in,’ from a purely selfish point of view, I completely agreed with Activision’s decision to cut the campaign, because I don’t want you to get a second-rate experience. So I agreed on that level.”
Yes, you get the star-filled Zombies cast, but you will not get the full campaign mode that comes to PS4, PC and Xbox One.
No Weapon Paint Shop Customization
You cannot use the Paint Shop in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for Xbox 360 or PS3.
In the full version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 you can use the Paint Shop to customize your weapon in unique and varied ways.
Activision confirms that there is no access to the Paint Shop on the Xbox 360 and PS3. This is a smaller feature, but one that many users are excited about using on the newer consoles.
No Black Ops 3 Season Pass for PS3 & 360
You won’t get all DLC or a Black Ops 3 Season Pass with the Xbox 360 or PS3.
We learned recently that there is no PS3 or Xbox 360 Black Ops 3 Season Pass option for gamers. Originally Activision stated that the DLC would only come to the Xbox One, PS4 and PC, but in April 2016 they delivered Awakening DLC to the PS3. Unfortunately, that will be the last DLC that we are aware of.
Black Ops 3 Graphics & FPS on Xbox 360 & PS3
It goes without saying that the Xbox One and PS4 Black Ops 3 release will deliver better looking graphics than on the PS3 and Xbox 360. What are the differences that you will notice?
The biggest difference will likely be the frames per second. Beenox Creative Director Thomas Wilson told Develop-Online, “I’d say that we tried to hit that target [60fps], It becomes harder when you’re working on current gen platforms.” Wilson adds, “We’re basically looking more at something like 30fps. But still, the experience is very enjoyable, otherwise it’s not Call of Duty.”
Activision addresses this with the following statement, “The multiplayer mode on PS3 and Xbox 360 will scale between 30- 60 FPS, while the frame rate in Zombies mode is 30 FPS.”
No Theater Mode or eSports Features
If you are still playing on the older consoles it is unlikely that you plan to play professionally in eSports mode, but there are still features you will miss.
Activision confirmed that eSports tools including CODCasting and Theater Mode will not come to the Xbox 360 or PS3.

Lots of people can not upgrade, Lastgen is a community, Currentgen is a community as well, lastgen players want our experience as well, lastgen need to save up money as well so they can get the same experience, what is sad is, people make fun of xbox360 & ps3 but why make fun of a game? It’s still the same game we all love just because it doesn’t have good graphics, missing features, DLC, and campaign doesn’t mean it’s still not call of duty, call of duty is basic, add characters, add weapons, add maps, etc. all that other stuff DLC, and good graphics, are basically just things that we asked and waited for just be happy you are able to buy a $300/$350/$400 console (prices changed)

Thing is if you’re not bothered about going online on a ps4 and get a ps4 that does everything but online the price will be cheaper! faulty consoles are always cheaper just get something that has a simple fault that doesn’t effect what you want it to do. , the power cable for it is universal basically the same connection as PS2. so if you already have all of that + hdmi cable then all you need is the console itself+ controller.
i got a PS4 for £160 wih a controller and all cables only because it doidn’t have online it can still play bluray/dvd/games and offline content.

To make the game run on a older gem console, the devolopers would have to completely rewrite the game for a console that could barely run the game. Do you realise that around 40 percent of the game is taken away from last gen console to be honest ive got a ps3 and a ps4 i have bo3 on both what i realised is that frame rate doesnt actually hurt your eyes actually lower frame rate could hurt your eyes do you realise the higher the frame rate the smoother the game plays and lets not mention the graphics which are spectacular on ps4 plus multplayer is handy to have if you have friends to play with instead of playing alone and singleplayer campain is important to know what is happening in the game.So maybe you just typed that comment because either your jealous of all the ppl who have ps4 which are much superior along with the PC master race and you cant afford one or your angry at the developer.
btw you are right about ppl going out for fresh air i think some people need some hobbys outside of gaming :)

BO3 on xbox 360= TOTAL RIP OFF, UNPLAYABLE!!!!! Almost impossible to finish a match online, that is if you can make it to start one! I’m trying since this morning, when I get a chance to start a match, which is pretty much once every 5-10 tries, it crashes 9 times out of 10. Nothing to do with my connexion or console. I bought the game far from my place so I can’t get refund. I’m so pissed off!!!!

If you already bought something than my reply isn’t helpful but don’t buy bo3 because you get only 60% of the game. I played advanced warfare and it’s GREAT!!! Well you need to wait a bit to find a match at multiplayer but it’s perfect and campaign is excelent I completed it like 100 times and I am going to complete it again in veteran so if you want bo3…then if you have good pc with 64-bit windows and all that requirements than buy bo3 on pc but i recommend to buy aw first. There is more that Exo suit things in bo3 but in aw at least you will get familiar with boost jump and all that things so aw first then bo3 but bo3 only on pc xboxone or ps4.

I bought the version for ps3 the gameplay and graphics aren’t bad, the maps are pretty sweet. However the “server” is always booting me from games or saying connection lost. Also i wish i didn’t waste my money because the game freezes after about 4 or 5 matches if i’m lucky and being it’s a brand new game and my internet connection is great i know it has something to with activision being lazy and not giving a shit. It has froze about 5 times in the last 2 hours so clearly the game is defective. I haven’t seen a single complaint about the game for players using xbox one or ps4 only xbox360 and ps3. I’m contacting activision tomorrow for a refund and if they tell me a bunch of bullshit i won’t be purchasing another cod ever or any game they develop. The fact that they even released this game with these major problems shows they don’t care about customer satisfaction only $$$.

I hate how game developers are kissing the new Gen’s ball sack like they never seen a new PlayStation/Xbox before PEOPLE STILL HAVE PS3 AND XBOX 360. Stop being lazy and make the full game for both consoles I spent $600 on my PS3 the same year it was released and still had bills to pay. I think that it’s good but shit when it comes to wanting dlc,maps,camoes,and a campaign. I think activision would do better at keeping this game good on past gen, and new gen. Trearch made a miss take that they will never forget, someone should come up and take a stand for BO3, WHOS WITH ME!!!!

I think whoever says you shouldn’t buy it because of lag and server disconnectn is just too picky, it does do it often, but not enough to not enjoy the game. and i don’t mind not having the campaign mode. i don’t play them unless i get bored of online multiplayer anyway. i think if you want to experience COD BO3 on XBOX360 then you should definitely buy it. ITS DOPE SAUCE!!!

i honestly don’t care how bad the game looks on my ps3 the awakening dlc maps don’t look bad at all and if you want the game to look better play with a 1080p tv and have an hdmi cable and play with the brightness all the way down

What a waste of time on last gen.The graphics and especially the frame rate for a fps game is just so bad. Xbox 360 still owns the ps3 version with a better frame rate 40+ but this game sucks anyway. Who wants to jump around like a monkey in a future fail scenario. Dumb asses, you should just play bos1 or bos2 or even mw on last gens. Still owns these advance warfare bos3 shitty games.

The only reason I got the PS3 version was due to it being sold in a buy and sell for 10 dollars, And the ps3 allows for free multiplayer compared to the 360 and next gen consoles (By that I mean that I don’t have to pay for a service to play online) So it wasn’t as much of a loss for me.

To all the rich guys who advise us ps3 and x360 gamers to upgrade: You guys don’t know anything about us. Some of us are cash strapped and even a small purchase like a game is big to us, let alone a next gen console. Some of us can’t upgrade due to money constraints. Understand guys!!!!!!! You got the ps4 or Xbox 1. Fine. Ok. We can’t buy one.
And if a game is made for ps3, it should be a game not a half hearted piece of shit. Don’t tell me that the ps3 is not capable. Let them develop the game to use the best out of it. The ps3 is quite capable. But some arrogant freaks who just upgraded to the ps4 are already putting it down.
