February Star Wars Battlefront Update: 5 Things to Know

Published

on

EA and DICE will be busy in the early part of 2016 with several new Star Wars Battlefront updates planned for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Today, we want to take a look at everything you need to know about the upcoming February Star Wars Battlefront update.

As we push into the new year, we’re finally starting to hear more about additional Star Wars Battlefront content. One of the biggest knocks on the game is that it’s repetitive and EA and DICE plan to address that with paid DLC and free content that comes to everyone.

EA and DICE recently laid out some long term plans for Star Wars Battlefront gamers and it includes several point updates and four major paid Battlefront DLC expansion packs, the first of which lands in March.

Star Wars

Before Star Wars Battlefront Outer Rim arrives in March, EA and DICE will be releasing free updates that bring more than just bug fixes.

Today, we want to take a look at one of those updates, a February Star Wars Battlefront update that’s now confirmed thanks to the developer and publisher.

Details are scarce but we should continue to see EA, DICE and others fill in the blanks as we push closer and closer to its release date.

February Star Wars Battlefront Release Date

It wasn’t already obvious, the February Star Wars Battlefront release date is set for the month of February. The exact date of the release is unknown and it will probably be unknown until shortly before its release for console and PC.

As of right now, all the companies are telling gamers is that “they do not currently have an ETA for the February release.”

EA and DICE typically release dates just before the roll out so you can expect the same from this update. EA’s social media accounts won’t leak information early so you’ll want to keep an eye out here for concrete details about the release date.

One thing that we do know is that you can expect server downtime on whichever day EA and DICE choose to roll the update out.

Here’s how the January update worked and you can expect something similar this month when the February Battlefront update rolls out:

Companion App: 8:00AM UTC (12:00AM PT / 3:00AM ET)
PC: 8:00AM UTC (12:00AM PT / 3:00AM ET)
PlayStation 4: 10:00AM UTC (2:00AM PT / 5:00AM ET)
Xbox One: 12:00PM UTC ( 4:00AM PT / 7:00AM PT)

February Star Wars Battlefront Update Details

Xbox One, PS4 and PC gamers should be excited for the month of February as well.

EA and DICE have promised another update next month and like the January release, it will come with more than just bug fixes for Battlefront problems.

The February update will bring “a new Survival mission on Hoth, and a brand-new Hoth multiplayer map that will support our larger game modes including Walker Assault, Supremacy, Fighter Squadron and Turning Point.”

That’s not all.

It will also come with a big change for Turning Point, the map type that EA and DICE delivered in the free Battle of Jakku release. The company says that it will make Turning Point “available on all maps that currently support Walker Assault and Supremacy in the February update.”

This is currently all we know about features but there’s a good chance these will just be a part of the update’s change log.

A-Wing Problems & Other Changes

EA and DICE have acknowledged ongoing issues with the A-Wing, one of the starfighters that you can pilot in the game.

The companies note that “A-Wing changes did not make it into the January Update” but that the “team is working to bring a lot of these fixes in our February update.”

EA and DICE want your feedback regarding problems with the A-Wing and its hit boxes/shield ramming so make sure you supply them with as much feedback as possible right here.

The February update will bring changes to the Bowcaster and Homing shot. It will also “include weapon buffs against air vehicles, adjustments to barrage damage, DLT19 adjustments.”

Battlefront Needs Other Fixes Too

The January Battlefront update comes with a number of important fixes but problems continue to plague Star Wars battlefront on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The white “pixel” glitches continue to hurt performance on Sony’s PS4. It also, according to many users, fails to fix the Playing the Objective trophy bug on Blast. As we’ve noted, there are also some other problems with the January update.

Users are reporting a problem with the “All right, I’ll give it a try” trophy, mouse problems, issues with weapon balance, blaster pistol hit detection problems, an odd sprinting bug, various issues with sound, Star Card problems, and more.

To help improve the game, and the February update, you’ll want to report Battlefront bugs and problems as you see them. EA and DICE are encouraging you to post feedback so that they can improve the February update’s change log.

For now, users are stuck with manual fixes. For more on those see our running list of fixes for common Battlefront problems.

March Update & DLC

The February update will be followed by additional content in March.

EA and DICE confirmed a free March update that, as of right now, will bring another exciting new multiplayer map on Endor.” This new map will support Walker Assault, Supremacy, and Turning Point. EA has also confirmed an additional Tatooine Survival map for the March update.

Battlefront

In addition to the free March update, EA and DICE will release their first paid Battlefront DLC in the form of the Battlefront Outer Rim expansion pack.

The update is confirmed for March though the companies haven’t announced all of the new features just yet.

What we do know is that the Outer Rim expansion will put you into battle “among the factories of Sullust” and “within Jabba the Hutt’s palace on Tatooine.”

Star Wars Battlefront Tips to Level Up Faster

Use a Headset & Communicate

Use a Headset & Communicate

You can battle it out on Hoth and Endor alone, or, you can team up with friends or people you meet in game to increase your chances of winning matches and taking out foes. Communication and teamwork is vital to your success in Star Wars Battlefront.

If you link up with a group, you'll be able to capture objectives and take out enemies more effectively. In games like Supremacy, a little teamwork can go a long way towards taking out or defending some of the harder objectives.

Use your headset to communicate but also use it to listen for footsteps and blaster fire. If you listen up, you'll get the drop on enemies before they're able to fire.

Killing enemies and taking objectives is the name of the game here and a headset is going to work wonders for your rank.
