July Black Ops 3 Double Cryptokey Weekend Details

The July Black Ops 3 Double Cryptokey weekend is finally here, delivering a new helping of 2X Cryptokeys in 30 days. Starting Friday July 1st players can earn double cryptokeys while completing contracts.

This is especially good news considering the addition of new Black Ops 3 weapons in June and the Black Ops 3 DLC 3 release date that is fast approaching.

We’ve seen Double XP and Double Weapons XP weekend for Black Ops 3 fairly regularly, but this is only the fourth time that Activision increased the Cryptokey earn rate by double.

Crack your knuckles and grab your controllers. Starting now through Tuesday at 10 AM PT, earn Double Cryptokeys from Daily Contracts!

The July Black Ops 3 Double Cryptokey weekend starts Friday July 1st at 10 AM PST, 1 PM Eastern. This runs through the weekend to 10 AM Pacific, 1 PM Eastern on Tuesday July 5th.

This is an extended opportunity to earn double Cryptokeys over the 4th of July weekend. It’s not like a normal Double XP weekend, so you need to make sure you go in with a goal.

You can use the Cryptokeys to unlock Supply Drops that include taunts, camos and new Black Ops 3 weapons. This weekend there is also a special 5 Rare Supply Drop bundle that includes five drops for 90 Cryptokeys, the normal price of three.

Also today through Tuesday at 10 AM PT, pick up a bundle of 5 Rare Supply Drops for only 90 Cryptokeys in #BlackOps3.

With the 2X Cryptokey weekend you can earn these faster and get a better chance of unlocking a weapon by opening more Supply Drops.

July Double Cryptokeys Weekend Tips

How to earn Cryptokeys faster.

This weekend you will earn more Cryptokeys than normal by completing Contracts. This only works for the Daily Contracts, so you need to play with a focus. You will not earn simply by playing Black Ops 3.

The first Black Ops 3 daily contract is Overloaded. You need to equip four attachments to any gun and get 100 kills. Get to it.

Go to the contracts page to make sure you know what your goal of the day is and what the reward is.

We don’t typically see Double Cryptokey weekends because it allows players to earn in game currency faster, and it could impact how much people spend on Call of Duty Points — which means less money for Activision.

Prepare for the July Black Ops 3 Double Cryptokey weekend.

When he announced the first 2X Cryptokey weekend Treyarch Studio Design Director shared, “Can’t even tell you how many messages I sent you trying to get this done.” on Twitter. With this in mind and the gap of 80 days between the first two events, you may want to stockpile some of these Cryptokeys.

Many signs point to a 10th Black Ops 3 Specialist coming in the very near future, and it may only be available in Supply Drops. The Blackjack Black Ops 3 specialist may be the Supply Drop store owner and his skill may be stealing the Specialist weapon or ability that another player has earned.

We will likely see new Black Ops 3 DLC guns in August, but it’s not likely that we will see any more in July with new weapons in June.

Verge Map - Eclipse Black Ops 3 DLC 2 Remake

The first new Black Ops 3 DLC 2 map is Verge. This is a remake of Bonsai from World at War, and it is more than a new coat of paint. Below you will see a variety of Verge map gameplay featuring Domination and Uplink game modes. Treyarch updates the map to use the new movement mechanics. There is a bridge and a lot of verticality in the map that allows players to move around with jumping and wallrunning. You will not see a map that is a carbon copy of Bonsai. Early gameplay videos compare the map to Mad Max and commenters say it has a Borderlands vibe to it. This takes place in a desolate wasteland set in a post apocalyptic future where two forces fight over water. Most of the action takes place in the middle of the map where a narrow bridge runs. You can see this in the videos above and below where you also see that there are tunnels and water to fight in. In all the Verge gameplay videos we watched  there were interesting points that led to a lot of kills, as players quickly discovered how to surprise the enemy in spawns and places to camp in the area near the water.  There are buildings you can go into to hide or to get an overwatch positions and a lot of cool detials inside these hideouts.  There are a lot of flanking opportunities that will allow you to to get behind the enemy, or you can choose to fight through the center, if you are brave and or foolish enough.
