All the New Pokémon in Pokémon Sun and Moon
With a ludicrously popular Pokémon game already dominating mobile entertainment, it’s almost absurd that players are getting another chance to visit the world of Pocket Monsters again later this year. This November Pokémon Sun and Moon arrive on Nintendo’s own handheld consoles, ready to introduce improved mechanics and a new region. As always, there’s a set new Pokémon in Pokémon Sun and Moon.
For a series that loves to introduce new creatures to collect, Pokémon Sun and Moon’s line-up seems particularly extensive. There are two new legendary Pokémon to collect, one for both versions of the game. In addition to that, GameFreak and Nintendo have created an entirely new line-up of Starter Pokémon, regional variants and mysterious beings. Alola, the new region in the game, is stuffed with new creatures.

Here’s everything we know about the new Pokémon coming in Pokémon Sun and Moon later this year.
Legendary Pokémon
Representing the Sun and Moon, much about Legendary Pokémon from other games in the franchise is true about Sogaleo and Lunala. Getting both will require players to purchase both versions of the game or trade with their friends. They’ll be the most powerful of the creatures included in the game, playing a pivotal role in each Trainer’s journey.
Sogaleo
Sogaleo is a Sun Pokémon that packs both Psychic and Steel powers. Nintendo says that the 500 pound creature will have a signature move called Sunsteel Strike; the move rains down a barrage of space rocks on opponents. Full Metal Body prevents the Sogaleo from being hurt by the lasting ills of any attack from a rival.
Lunala
Lunala absorbs light and is known as the Moon Pokémon. Wings with Circular ends gives it the look of the actual moon at night. The Pokémon uses Moongeist Beam to attack enemies. ShadowShield allows the creature to take less damage when attacked.

Popplio
The Sea Lion Pokémon, Popplio has water powers and a Water Gun attack that can devastate opponents. The creature is a big fan of water balloons.

New Pokémon in Pokémon Sun & Moon: Pokémon to Catch & Train
Bounsweet
Bounsweet looks more like a fruit than something actually alive and dangerous. That makes sense given the creature’s status as the Fruit Pokémon. Bounsweet users here scent to calm humans and enemies while skipping along in the grass.
Steene
A Grass type Pokémon, Steene’s two abilities are Leaf Guard and Oblivious. It’s an evolution of Bounsweet, albeit a more dangerous one because of the strong leaf on its head.
Tsareena
Still a Grass type, Tsareena is the final evolution of Bounsweet. Her Queenly Majesty ability intimidates other creatures, preventing rival trainers from using high-priority moves.
Bewear
Bewear looks like a bear, but its Fighting abilities make it formidable in and out of the woods. The creature has a Fluffy ability that absorbs half the damage normally inflicted by an attack.
Comfey
Comfey almost looks like a lay given to visitors of a Polynesian island. The Pokémon emits its own healing fragrance, plus collects enough flowers to form a hoop. Those same flowers become weapons if the creature is ever attacked.
Mudbray
With superhuman strength and stamina, Mudbray once roamed all regions of the world. Unfortunately, Alola is the only place the creature remains, having been hunted to near extinction. It’s a Ground Type Pokemon.
Mudsdale
The Dark House Pokémon, Mudsdale is a Ground Type Pokémon known for being pretty nonchalant about people, Trainers and rivals Pokémon. Stamina allows the creature’s defense to go up by a single point when in battle.
Mimikyu
A mix of Ghost and Fairy powers, Mimikyu looks like a pretty scary Pikachu when first encountered. The look is actually a disguise designed to attract those that adore Pikachu. In battle, the Disguise ability lets the creature escape dangerous situations.
Wimpod
Wimpod is a Bug and Water Type Pokémon that scavenge whatever is on the ground. Instead of waiting for its Trainer to pull it from battle, it’ll run away when its health is halfway to being depleted.
Drampa
Drampa is a normal, Dragon Type Pokémon mix with an unorthodox look and the Dragon Breath move for dealing with enemies and even buildings. It feasts on Berries and leaves thousands of miles above sea level to avoid other creatures.
Tapu Koko
The guardian of Melemele Island, Tapu Koko has Electric powers. These powers include Electric Surge. Electric Surge keeps all Pokémon awake by supercharging the ground they stand on. It also boosts the effectiveness of Electric moves.
Magearna
Magearna Is more like having a second partner than other creatures in the game. Created hundreds of years ago, Magearna seeks out other Pokémon that are in distress and tries to help them. The creature can pretend to be a Pokeball if the situation warrants it. It can also use its Soul-Heart ability to boost its attack stats as its opponents faint.
Togedemaru
A tiny, Electronic and Steel creature, Togedemaru absorbs electricity from others, choosing to use that current as part of its attack. Coupled with the needles that act as Lightning Rods out of its back, the feature is formidable.
Salandit
Combining the powers of Poison and Fire, Salandit is a byproduct of toxic waste, it seems. The creature emits a dangerous gas that double as a sort of mind-control technique.
Zygarde
Zygrade is no regular Pokémon. The creature consists of a core, with cells that allow it to upgrade over time. It changes forms and grows more powerful as it gathers cells. According to Zygrade page, the creature, the cells can act independently of Zygrade’s core.
Chargjabug
Looking more like a battery than a living thing, Charjabug lounges while collecting as much energy as it possibly can. Instead of using all the power that it stores, the creature can lend it to another Pokémon, making it the perfect companion to Togedemaru, Pikachu and other Electric Type creatures.
Vikavolt
Able to discharge huge amounts of Electricity, Vikavolt is a Stag Beetle Pokémon that has a large mouth and flies. Vikavolt is the true companion to Chargjabug; it’s able to draw on that creature’s energy reserve to stay in battles longer.
Minior
Minior is a Meteor Pokemon, with Rock and Flying ability. Their colors aren’t revealed until their shell cracks.
Komala
A tiny bear that almost never awakes, Komala carries a log and sleeps during battles. Using Comatose, it can defend itself from poisoning and things that would require a healing at a local Pokémon Center.
Rockruff
The Pokémon series has featured dog Pokémon before, but it’s never included a Puppy Pokémon. That changes this fall. Rockruff is a Rock Type Pokémon that looks like a dog. Rockruff does a lot of damage with Bite, a move that takes advantage of its sharp teeth.
Grubbin
Grubbin is a small Bug-type Pokémon that has pincers and uses the Swarm attack when necessary. It’s Grubbin that evolves into Charjabug and Vikavolt.
Bruxish
A colorful Fish Type Pokémon, Bruxish is colorful and flamboyant. The creatures are used as protection for more dangerous water creatures that might threaten humans on beaches. It’s a Water/Psychic Type Pokémon.
Cutiefly
The Bee Fly Pokémon, Cutiefly is tiny, beige and has the Honey Gather ability. It’s a Bug/Fairy Type Pokémon, all rolled into a tiny package.
Ribombee
Ribombee uses its Shield Dust to take on enemies. A Bug and Fairy Type creature, it produces a pollen that can cause paralysis. It evolves from Cutiefly.
Pikipek
Pikipek is a Flying Type Pokémon with good sight and a spike for a beak. Capable, of striking with that beak 16 times in a single minute, the Pokémon can break through stone.
Yungoos
More weasel than anything else, Yungoos didn’t start out in Alola. Instead, they were brought in to help control the population of some other creatures that’d become a nuisance. Yungoos has the Stakeout Ability that deals double damage to some members of an opponent’s line-up.
Gumshoos
Gumshoos is a Normal Type Pokémon with a strong jaw and the focus to track rivals for long periods of time.
Lurantis
A Grass Type Pokémon, Lurantis uses its flower-like good looks to prey on unsuspecting enemies.
Null
Null is a Synthetic Pokémon, meaning it isn’t naturally occurring in Alola. It has the Battle Armor ability and clearly looks like it was cobbled together by a scientist or bad guy form parts of other Pokémon. It has Normal Type attacks.
Silvally
When a Null finds someone that it can trust, it turns into Silvally. All the armor from its previous evolution is just meant to keep it from harnessing its complete array of powers.
Jangmo-O
Jangmo-o never turns its back on enemies because it uses scales on the top of its head to take on enemies. It’s a Dragon Type Pokémon that has the Bulletproof and Soundproof abilities.
Hakamo-o
The evolution of Jangmo-o, Hakamo-o is another Dragon and Flying Type creature. Its two abilities, Bulletproof and Soundproof underscore how hard the scales that cover its body are.
Kommo-o
The ultimate form of Jangmo-o, Kommo- still has scales and is still very dangerous. It keeps its Dragon and Fighting abilities.
Formantis
Another Grass Type Pokémon Formantis sleeps at night and attacks during the day. The creature has the Leaf Guard ability.
New Pokémon in Pokémon Sun & Moon: Regional Variants
New for Pokémon Sun and Moon, some creatures from the older gamers are back for this version, but in specific regional variants. These variants have different powers than their normal versions.

The Alolan Exeggutor has grown stronger in the sun. In fact, it gets so much sun that it’s grown a fourth head, plus a tail and a taller neck. It’s a grass and Dragon Type creature.
Alolan Rattata
A grey colored variant of the Mouse Pokémon from other games in the series. Aolan Rattata is both Dark and Normal Type.

Alolan Sandshrew
Also an Ice and Steel Type Pokémon, Alolan Sandshrew keeps the Snow Cloak ability and is unique to the mountains and frigid areas of Alola.
Alolan Muk
The Dark and Poison Type Pokemon, Alolan Muk is even more dangerous than the standard version. Its Poison Touch ability is a byproduct of consuming Alola’s waste.
Alolan Grimer
Alolan Grimer is just as dangerous as Alolan Muk. It has the same Poison Touch ability because it’s been eating the island chain’s garbage.
New Pokémon in Pokémon Sun & Moon: Ultra Beasts

UB-01 can shape-shift and its movements “resemble those of a girl.”
New Pokémon in Pokémon Sun & Moon: Styles
In addition to the regional variants, new Pokémon in Pokémon Sun and Moon will also come in different styles specific to each of its islands. Oricorio has a Sensu Style, Pa’u Style, Pom-Pom Style and Baile Style. Each has a different base type to match their different visual style.
