4 Reasons Not to Install iOS 13 Beta & 12 Reasons You Should
There are some great reasons to take the iOS 13 beta for a spin on your iPhone. There are also some reasons to skip it and stay put on iOS 12.
Apple confirmed iOS 13 on stage at WWDC 2019 in early June. The company used the keynote to outline many of the features coming to iPhone in the final version of iOS 13 later this year. Fortunately, you don’t have to wait to try them.
Apple’s released an iOS 13 beta for select iPhone models and it’s out for developers and the general public right now. Those who don’t want to pay for a developer account can install the public iOS 13 beta via the Beta Software Program. The Beta Software Program is free and simply requires a compatible device and a working Apple ID.
There are plenty of reasons why you might want to consider giving the iOS 13 beta a go. The beta includes Dark Mode, performance improvements, and changes to several core first-party apps including Reminders, Messages, and others.
While it’s exciting to try new features and test performance ahead of time, there are also some great reasons to avoid the iOS 13 beta.
Pre-release software is typically plagued with issues and iOS 13 beta is no different. Beta testers are reporting a variety of issues with the latest release.
If the going gets tough, you can jump back down to iOS 12. However, you can only downgrade to iOS 12.4.1 or iOS 12.4. There’s no going back to anything older than that which means this is a pretty big decision for those of you having a good experience on iOS 12.3.2, iOS 12.3.1, or an older version of iOS 12.
With the official release date getting closer, most people should stick to iOS 12. The 2019 iPhone launch event is confirmed for September 10th and the 2019 iPhone release date is rumored for September 20th. The iOS 13 release date should fall between those dates.
If you’re on the fence, allow us to guide you through the best reasons to try the iOS 13 beta and the best reasons to wait or avoid it completely.
We’ll continue to update this with new features, fixes, enhancements, and problems as we find them.

While trying new features is certainly exciting, remember that you're also helping Apple squash issues before they reach millions of iOS users around the world. Your testing could help the company discover a nasty bug or performance problem ahead of the final release later this year. If you're sick of dealing with issues or sick of hearing friends and family complain about problems, think about giving the iOS 13 beta a try. If you decide to download the iOS 13 beta and find an issue on board, make sure you report it to Apple. This way, engineers can work on a permanent fix. | |||||||||||||||||
