How to Turn Your iPhone Auto Brightness Off in iOS 11
Many of us don’t like the iPhone automatically changing the screen brightness while we are using it. If you fit into this camp, you’ve probably turned off iPhone auto brightness settings many times while using the iPhone. Typically this is in the Display & Brightness settings, but with iOS 11 and on the iPhone X, you cannot find this option there.
Thankfully you can still turn off auto brightness on the iPhone running iOS 11, you just need to know where to look to make the change. Searching the Settings on your iPhone almost helps you find it, but it’s not immediately clear where the setting you need to change is.
Instead of keeping this option in display settings, the auto brightness toggle is now in Accessibility settings. This is where you find a lot of iPhone customization options, including the ability to add a home button to the iPhone X if you need one.
- Open Settings.
- Tap on General.
- Tap on Accessibility.
- Tap on Display Accommodations.
- Tap on Auto Brightness Toggle to Off.

Where you can turn auto brightness off on the iPhone with iOS 11.
Once you finish that option auto brightness will be off on iOS 11. You can use these settings on the iPhone and iPad. After you turn it off, you can use the sliders in the Control Center to change your brightness.
It’s not clear why Apple is hiding this setting from users, but we don’t expect it to disappear completely in any future updates. It is possible that Apple wants fewer users turning it off since it can lead to bad iOS 11 battery life if you leave the screen brightness all the way up.
