HomeKit Security Updates

HomeKit now includes secure video as a feature for select security cameras. With an iCloud account you get a week of in the cloud recordings and all of the analyzing is done locally. 

This includes person detection and other detection as well as linking up your camera to door locks and lights in that location. The online recordings don't count against your iCloud storage plan as long as you have a 200GB or higher plan and a home hub. 

Apple also announced HomeKit enabled routers that include an extra layer of security for your smart home. You can also now add Siri shortcuts into automations. 

iOS 12 doesn't include any of the security camera features, but you may still be able to get the HomeKit router security.
