7 Reasons to Buy the 2018 MacBook Pro & 4 Reasons Not To
Buy for Better Performance and Power
The biggest reason to buy the 2018 MacBook Pro for most users is for better performance. This is especially true with the 15-inch MacBook Pro, but even the 13-inch packs more power than the older models. Apple claims the processors in the 15-inch MacBook Pro are 70% faster and the new processors in the 13-inch MacBook Pro are twice as fast. These new 6-core processors in the 15-inch model and quad-core processors in the 13-inch model dramatically open up the possibilities. You can also now add up to 32GB of RAM in the 15-inch MacBook Pro, enabling power users to run more apps at the same time, virtual machines and load massive files. You can also now choose a 2TB SSD on the 13-inch MacBook Pro and a 4TB SSD on the 15-inch model. If you are coming from an older MacBook Pro, upgrading will also allow you to use an external GPU, which means access to even more power when you are at your office.

“Not everyone needs the best processor or 32GB of RAM, but even if you opt for a base or mid-line 2018 MacBook Pro, it’s going to last you longer and serve you better than buying an older model if you keep your notebook until it cannot do the work you need anymore.”
Can you update the SSD on a post-2015 MacBook? Are you sure your keyboard will still even work in two more years? I’d say the post-2015 models have been the most un-upgradable, un-serviceable, and (because of keyboard issues) least reliable Macs in over 15 years. Would not recommend until Apple gets its head out of its ass and starts making top-tier laptops for professionals again.
