Don't Install It If You're Worried About Problems

If you're having an excellent experience on Android 7.1.1 (or something older) and Android 7.1.2 Nougat fails to excite you, you might think about waiting a few days before installing the new software on your phone or tablet.

Google's Android 7.1.2 Nougat update went through a beta but problems have slipped into the final version of the update. This doesn't come as much of a surprise.

Google's Android updates always bring their own collection of problems to Nexus and Pixel devices. Even the monthly security updates can cause problems.

Android 7.1.2 issues include abnormal battery drain, broken connectivity, and busted apps. We're also hearing about some more widespread fingerprint reader problems impacting Nexus smartphones. These might give Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X owners pause.

If you want to avoid these problems, you might want to avoid Android 7.1.2 Nougat for the time being.

Those of you feeling especially leery could opt to stick around on your current build until Google rolls out a new Android 7.1.2 build or another version of Android.
