If you want to play NBA 2K23 ASAP, you'll want to pre-order the game. 

Unlike previous years, there isn't an early release date attached to any of the game's bundles. All NBA 2K23 editions currently on sale will come out on the same day. That means your first chance to play the full version of NBA 2K23 will be September 9th or September 8th.

If you pre-order a digital copy of the game, you can pre-load it before the game's release date. The game should unlock at 12AM Eastern on September 9th which means those in western time zones will be able to play it the evening of September 8th. 

If you pre-order a physical copy of NBA 2K23 you won't get your delivery until the morning, afternoon, or night of September 9th unless you can find a midnight launch event. 

For some of you, that might not be fast enough. If not, go with a digital copy.
