Galaxy Note 9 rumors (and Galaxy S9 rumors for that matter) once claimed the device would have a fingerprint sensor under the display. That didn't happen. The Galaxy Note 9 missed out on the feature, but it looks like the technology could arrive on the 2019 Galaxy S flagship. A report from The Bell claims Samsung has informed its partners that it plans to use Fingerprint On Display (FOD) technology on the Galaxy S10. A report from Chosun backs up this report and claims Samsung will use the technology on the Galaxy S10. A report from Korean site ETNews claims the Galaxy S10's in-display fingerprint sensor is a done deal. The site claims Samsung Display will supply the display panel while Qualcomm will supply ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Samsung itself has confirmed the presence of a new fingerprint sensor on the 2019 Galaxy S. The company's mobile chief DJ Koh says the company will bring an improved screen fingerprinting experience to the Galaxy S10 though he says it won't be an optical fingerprinting solution. Another report from Korea claims all Galaxy S10 models will have Samsung's new in-display fingerprint solution on board. The Investor report states that all Galaxy S10 models will indeed come with in-display fingerprint sensors, but that the technology will differ. The two high-end Galaxy S10 models will reportedly have an ultrasonic sensor while the entry-level model will boast an optical fingerprint sensor. Live images of the Galaxy S10 appear to confirm the presence of an in-display fingerprint reader so this feature is all but confirmed at this point. If authenticating your identity with a simple press on your phone's display is something you're interested in, there's a good chance the Galaxy S10 will satisfy your needs. | ||||||||||||||||

Samsung has duties. 2019 is presented to them as a challenge and opportunity in equal parts. After insisting two generations with the design in its Galaxy S line, this year it is a face wash that manages to attract the eyes again. In 2018, most already embraced the ‘all screen’, minimizing the presence of edges. And it is something that will not do more than accentuate in 2019.
