4 Reasons Not to Install Galaxy S9 Pie & 12 Reasons You Should
Install Android Pie for Bixby Key Remapping
The Galaxy S9 is already getting a useful feature that debuted alongside the new Galaxy S10. In the past, Samsung tried to prevent Galaxy users from remapping the Bixby key. That's changed. Samsung is rolling out an update that allows Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ users to remap the Bixby key. In order to use this feature a few things need to happen. First, you need to be running Android Pie on your Galaxy S9. Once you're running Android Pie, you'll need to download the latest update to the Bixby application from the Galaxy Store. After you've done that, head into your Settings. In Settings, go into Advanced features > Bixby key and you'll find that you can now set a third-party app to launch with a single or double press of the Bixby key. You can only select one. Galaxy S9 users have been pleading for this change and Samsung's finally delivered. If this sounds like music to your ears, download Android Pie and the Bixby update today.

“Like Adaptive Battery, Adaptive Brightness uses AI to learn your habits. And like its name suggests, it’s focused on the brightness of your display.” And this comes with a horendous bug/issue! Instead of going straight to the required brightnes, according to the surrounding, the screen goes completly dim. Terrible! You have to manually compensate for this idiotic AI feature! This is a known issue and you are presenting it as an “advantage” and an achievement?…
UI – completly broken. A lot of themes no longer work, especially dark ones and overall thte default icons are terrible. There are also some removed features – the enahce audio during call has been removed for instance.
And the most nagging issue – one in three times I am requested to unlock my phone by using the pattern instead of the fingerprint unlock.
Shame on SAMSUNG for such catastrophic testing and shame on the development team who released this junk and ruined my experience by turning an almost perfect phone into an aggravating piece of junk!

This update isn’t the android UI that I know and love.

My S9 update was a complete disaster from auto reject of all calls, visit to UbreakIfix store, GPS not working, Wifi not working anymore and worst of all, the refresh deleted all of my latest contacts, Voicemails that I saved, and Chrome bookmarks with all account info.
Needless to say, I will never update another Samsung phone. Samsung tech support wants me to ship the phone to them for 9 days turnaround without any loaner (yeah it’s in Warranty too.) I made the mistake of buying it outright directly from Samsung (another big mistake.)

The new method to close apps is horrible. Instead of seeing a stack of all the apps in an easily to see format on one screen where the last app you used is at the bottom and you can swipe left or right to close, is now a horrible format. Every damn app has it’s own page and it doesn’t always show the last app you used. To close an app you have to flip through every single page to find the app you want to close and swipe up. Terrible design.
Contacts sorting by letter rarely works. Every other letter is displaced and if I click on the little dot where the C should be, I still end up seeing all the D contacts.
As so many others have mentioned, the icons are designed by Fisher Price I think. In fact with names like KitKat, Oreo, Pie, I don’t think I have an adult phone, but more like a kids toy. The icons really cater to the 2 year old fan base, but anyone else, it’s just horrible.

I hate the new update. Why does it have to change everything about the phone operations? I use this for work. Lost all my Wi-Fi connections some contacts and voicemails. The icons are laughable. I this someone else mention fisher price, I would have to agree.

This update has removed the video pro mode. This has ruined the phone for people like me who bought the phone for this feature. I have contacted Citizens advice and trading standards in the UK who have stated Samsung are legally obliged to return this feature or pay compensation under UK law. I imagine this is the same for all EU member countries

I guess I must be one of the few who actually like the update. So far, I have no known issues and appreciate a lot of the new features.

If you need TV Parts, or mobile phone parts, you can go to https://www.abctay.com. I sold them in this store. It’s very cheap, and the freight is cheap, and the service is good. Basically, if you have questions ,they will answer you.

This is horrible. No more split screen. You can’t toggle between having the bottom status bar there or not there. Icons remind me of my first smartphone in 2008! Why! Just why! It was near perfect before. My awesome phone is now junk, guess I’ll just watch TV…lame

I have already looked at the US EUL, arbitration terms, and FTC consumer protection laws about this “crapdate.” For $50 in the US, you can file for arbitration regarding them having the right to break your phone and destroy functionality for apps you have paid for. Have been on the phone to Verizon and Samsung and both so sorry, can’t help.
I plan to file consumer protection complaints and file for arbitration. Let them spend a couple thousand on arb prep for a large number of filers and they may decide to do this another way.
I have NO PROBLEM with android/Samsung rolling out whatever in the hell they want to and giving me a heads up on it. I have a BIG PROBLEM with them forcing this crap down my throat on a phone I paid for and have taken considerable time to get exactly like I need.
Push back. It’s the only thing companies like this know. I will NEVER buy another Samsung product in my life, looking at android alternatives now.

This update is showing that android is trying too hard to be apple. I enjoyed my note 8 before I updated it and within seconds I realized I made a mistake. I enjoyed when android was trying to be a different thing but now theyve gone and ruined that.
