4 Reasons Not to Install iOS 17.7 & 11 Reasons You Should
Install iOS 17.7 If You're Dealing with Problems
If your device has been struggling with bugs and/or performance issues on iOS 17.6.1 or older, think about installing iOS 17.7. iOS 17.7's release notes don't outline any specific fixes, but new versions of iOS often fix unlisted issues so iOS 17.6.1 could fix performance issues like UI lag, Bluetooth problems, random reboots, lockups and freezes, and various issues with first-party applications. As for older updates, Apple says the iOS 17.6.1 update addressed an issue that prevents enabling or disabling Advanced Data Protection. iOS 17.5.1 addressed a rare issue where photos that experienced database corruption could reappear in the Photos library even if they were deleted. iOS 17.4 included two bug fixes:
If you've run into these problems on your device, and you missed iOS 17.4, you should probably install iOS 17.7 right away. iOS 17.3.1 fixed an issue where text may unexpectedly duplicate or overlap while typing. iOS 17.3 brought crash detection optimizations to all iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models. iOS 17.2.1 delivered unnamed bug fixes to iPhone users in the United States, but it looks like it fixed battery drain issues in other countries. The iOS 17.2 update fixed an issue that may prevent wireless charging in certain vehicles. If you've been dealing with this issue, and you missed iOS 17.2, download iOS 17.7 today. iOS 17.2 also fixed ongoing Wi-Fi issues plaguing iPhone users. Apple's iOS 17.1.1 update had two known bug fixes on board:
iOS 17.1 had a ton of bug fixes on board. If you missed it, and you're dealing with one of the following problems, you should install iOS 17.7. Here's what it fixed:
iOS 17.0.3 fixed an issue that could cause the iPhone to run warmer than expected. This is a fix for iPhone 15 overheating issues that have dominated headlines for weeks. If you've been dealing with this issue, and you skipped iOS 17.0.3, make sure you download iOS 17.7 and the latest updates for your apps. iOS 17.0.2 fixed a problem that may “prevent transferring data directly from another iPhone during setup.” If you skipped an iOS 16 update, you will get the bug fixes from any updates you skipped with your version of iOS 17.7. Again, the fixes from the update(s) you skipped are baked into your upgrade. For more about iOS 16's various bug fixes, take a look at our guide.
