Be Careful If You Own an Old Mac

macOS Sonoma is available for Macs dating back to 2017 and 2018 which is great, but if you're at the edge of this compatibility, you may want to hold off on installing the update. Let other users try out the latest software on an old Mac to see how it performs.

This will let you decide if the software's performance is good or if there are issues that will prevent you from reliably using your computer.

Check sites like the MacRumors forums and Apple Discussion forums to find feedback from users with similar Mac models.

You can downgrade your Mac's software to macOS Ventura so you can test macOS Sonoma out, but you'll want to make sure you have a good backup and that you have time to downgrade if macOS Sonoma isn't what you expected.

I have a 2019 27″ iMAC with an i5 processor- not cutting edge but hey. Sonoma 14.4 gives me new problems: 1). If I put a windows App on full screen the top of the pages dissapears behind the Apple conterol bar such that I can no longer access the windows tabs. 2). Also If I (Command Shift 4) to copy a screen image to e.g. paste into eMail then the dreaded spinning spectrum of hung system comes up every time. Not impressed with the new Op-system so far!
