macOS Sonoma 14.5 delivers several changes to the Apple News app including an addicting game called Quartiles.
Quartiles is a new and original daily word game that's only available via Apple News+. It's found in the Puzzles section of the app. Quartiles asks the player to combine tiles to form words. Forming words will score points and move you up the Leaderboard in Game Center. The game starts with a grid that features 20 tiles. You then can form words out of one, two, three, or four tiles. A four tile word is called a quartile and if you find all five in the puzzle, you get a bonus.
We gave the game a quick spin and it's pretty addicting, especially if you like word games. In addition, there's now a Scoreboard in News+ Puzzles which gives you access to new player data for Crossword, Mini Crossword and Quartiles, including stats and streaks.

I have a 2019 27″ iMAC with an i5 processor- not cutting edge but hey. Sonoma 14.4 gives me new problems: 1). If I put a windows App on full screen the top of the pages dissapears behind the Apple conterol bar such that I can no longer access the windows tabs. 2). Also If I (Command Shift 4) to copy a screen image to e.g. paste into eMail then the dreaded spinning spectrum of hung system comes up every time. Not impressed with the new Op-system so far!
