6 Reasons to Wait for the iPhone 14 & 6 Reasons Not To
Don't Wait for a Titanium Design
A rumor suggested that Apple would be making another notable change to the iPhone's design in 2022. Unfortunately, that change is dead in the water it seems. Last year JP Morgan Chase claimed iPhone 14 Pro models would come with a tougher titanium alloy chassis. Apple uses titanium for some of its Apple Watch 6 models. The company's Apple Card is also made out of titanium. If this rumor were to pan out it would be the first time Apple's used the material on the iPhone. The iPhone 12, and older iPhone models, are made using aluminum and stainless steel. A titanium design would afford iPhone users some advantages. The material is less prone to scratches and it can withstand bending. Sadly, it looks like we won't get this feature in 2022. A leaker who's known for releasing accurate information says titanium housing options "were made as prototypes" but that it was "deemed to hard to work with and not cost effective as a result." Another source echoes this and says that while a "prototype of the titanium housing body actually existed," the design "was dropped due to cost and manufacturing process issues." Nothing is confirmed, but we don't expect this change to come this year.
