Best Phones for Seniors in 2019
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 | ||||||
| ||||||
The Samsung Galaxy Note smartphones offer big screens and a stylus that can make typing and using the phone easier. Here's our full review. The Galaxy Note 9 offers a big screen, a S Pen and a water resistant design that makes it more durable. If you need more storage you can always add a Micro SD card to the phone later, which means it is a phone that you can use for longer before upgrading. The S Pen stores inside the phone and pops out when you need to draw or use it to type on the keyboard, simply pop it out. You'll also find a great camera on the front and back for sharing photos with friends and family. You can buy the Galaxy Note 9 for $20 to $33 a month at Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Best Buy. Buy certified refurbished at Gazelle. | ||||||

Say I am cooking carrots and want an alert in 25 minutes. Is this easy to do? Or does it require an app? It just seems this kind of thing, call xyz in the morning, pick up the grandkids a 3:00 etc Seniors are forgetful, they could use some help.. I would probably own a smart phone if it had useful features like this. I had a iPod Touch once given to me. I found it a real pain, particularly the need to hook up to a computer and I forget the name of the program, but it was not user friendly at all. iTunes i believe. Never again one of those.

Hi Daniel,
You can use the timer on a smart phone without downloading any apps, it would be under the “clock” feature that is already pre-loaded when you purchase. Also, almost all smartphones have voice assistance now so you would be able to hold a key and say “pick up grand kids at 3pm” and it will calendar it for you and remind you. Everything you have asked you could do simply without much assistance :) Further, If you do not like dealing with the apple interface, iTunes, etc, you could easily solve that by purchasing a Samsung, HTC or any other non-apple related phone model.

You can press and hold the home button until Siri asks how she can help you. Tell her to set a timer for 25 minutes and she will do it for you.

It is really good when elderly person is comfortable in trying the new technology like smartphones, but for many people learning to use smart phone is the same as climbing Mount Everest.
We have taken completely different approach, we made the phone that has no screen and no keypad.
Have a look at http://www.kisa.com.au
KISA Phone is not for everyone but it is lifesaving device for people who can’t use any other phone.

My developer is trying to persuade me to move
to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because
of the costs. But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using Movable-type on various websites for about a year and am worried about switching to another platform.
I have heard fantastic things about blogengine.net.
Is there a way I can transfer all my wordpress posts into it?
Any kind of help would be really appreciated!

I think you manufacturers have all got it wrong.
Seniors need a simple phone but with GPS location so pressing the rear recessed SOS button will tell emergency services where they are. Similar phones might run security apps like “Man Down” but a whole OS is not needed.

I wanted to share a great communication tool that is now available to seniors and their family members. My wife and I did quite a bit of research and just got her parents a grandPad tablet (www.grandpad.net). The tablet was designed just for seniors, primarily for them to be able to connect with their loved ones safely and it has changed my in-laws lives almost overnight. It is a remarkable service that comes with 24 hour support and is very simple to use. They don’t have to worry about passwords or many different fees from different providers. It’s a one stop package deal. The day their tablet arrived, my father-in-law was able to do a video chat with his son in Europe and it was the 1st time he had seen him “live” in over 4 years! Neither of my in-laws are very tech savvy, so the grandPad is a perfect way for them to email people, listen to music, do memory games, etc. We can all communicate with them frequently and send them real-time photos of what is happening in our lives. When we are traveling or find something we think they would like (old trains, unique fashions, etc.) we snap a picture and send it to them. If we are not available to visit them, we can have a video call and it’s like being right in the same room. We can’t say enough great things about this product!
