Galaxy Note 8 vs Galaxy S8+: Specs

Other aspects many are interested in are the specs and features, or what makes this phone fast and worth waiting for. While these don't matter to everyone, we still feel like it's worth talking about.

Expect fast performance thanks to a few new hardware additions on the Note 8. Is it enough though? That's the question.

Galaxy Note 8 Specs

  • 6.3-inch 2960 x 1440 Quad-HD AMOLED Infinity Display
  • Snapdragon 835 or Samsung Exynos 8895 Processor (same as Galaxy S8+)
  • 64GB of storage and 6GB of RAM
  • Android 7.1.2 Nougat (Soon after an update to Android 8.0 “O”)
  • Dual 12 Megapixel Rear f/1.7 aperture cameras, 2X optical zoom, both have OIS
  • 8 Megapixel front-facing camera
  • 3,300 mAh battery with Fast and Wireless Charging (Smaller than S8+)
  • Improved S-Pen stylus with lots of new features
  • IP68 Dust and Water Resistance up to 5ft
  • Bixby AI Assistant and dedicated button
  • USB Type-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack, heart rate sensor, Iris Eye Scanner, fingerprint scanner, more
  • more

The Galaxy S8+ and Note 8 have the same processor, at least in the United States. One area of improvement is 6GB of RAM for the Note. That should help with overall performance, gaming, and app load times. Otherwise, they both have the same specs in most categories.

Galaxy S8+ Specifications

  • 6.2-inch 2960 x 1440 Quad-HD AMOLED Curved Display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Samsung Exynos Processor (outside US)
  • 64GB of internal storage (Micro-SD slot included) and 4GB RAM
  • Android 7.0 Nougat with Samsung TouchWiz
  • 12 Dualpixel Rear Camera - OIS, phase detection auto-focus, f/1.7 aperture
  • 8 megapixel front camera with auto focus, f/1.7 aperture
  • Fingerprint & Iris Scanner, facial scanner for unlocking
  • IP68 dust & water resistance
  • 3,500 mAh battery with Fast & Wireless Charging
  • Improved Always-On Display
  • Samsung Pay
  • Bixby Virtual Assistant
  • USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, more

The big things to keep in mind are the bigger screen, S-Pen, and dual cameras. However, if battery life is a concern the Galaxy S8+ has a bigger battery without having to power as much screen. So technically battery life will end up better for the smaller of the two.
