Any and all Galaxy S8 smartphones released this year will almost certainly be water resistant and have expandable storage. This is fast becoming a feature every phone should have.
The Galaxy S7 was IP68 dust and water resistance up to 5ft for over 30 minutes. It also had a micro-sd slot for owners to expand storage and swap it out on the go. We're almost 100% sure both features will be employed this year. After the iPhone 7 came out and is water resistant (IP67), all phones are being judged on having this feature or not. Samsung beat them to it though, and have a higher rating at IP68. We expect this to continue in 2017 with the Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8 and beyond. Additionally, storage has been doubled to 64GB, which will be the base amount. No more running out after only having 32GB built-in. We could even see a 128GB model in select regions. |

Agreed. I loved the Note 5 and was sad I had to return the excellent Note 7. If the new Galaxy S8 indeed has a 5.7 and 6.2-inch display in the same physical size as this year I’ll be impressed and happy.
I’ll be getting the Galaxy S8 Plus immediately. And love it.

Yup. The Samsung and Apple war will be extremely interesting in 2017. Samsung’s bigger bezel-free displays and a new fingerprint scanner. And it will be exciting to see whether or not Apple goes AMOLED, or if that’s being pushed to 2018. Either way, next year will be a big year for Samsung. I can almost guarantee it.

I will be getting a Samsung for life. A fiasco only makes you stronger.

To me the big thing is internal memory, because that directly impacts how many apps you can download. The thought of 64Gb memory is tantalizing. Also looking forward to the better camera. I hear the S7 camera is great (I have an S5 right now).
The thing I hate, have always hated about all the phones is the OS overlay they each develop. Not really a fan of Touch Wiz, the bloatware, and the apps I can’t uninstall. If the S8 doesn’t come out with ringing endorsements, once it is released, I’ll be looking seriously at the Pixel.

I have always loved the Samsung Smartphones, the S series in particular. I am not an I-Phone fan. Almost everyone I know that has one, the screen is cracked. I try my best not to drop my phone but if I do I know that my current Samsung S-5 will not crack under pressure. As far as features, I love Samsung’s products and I was going to upgrade to the Note 7 but the recall happened before I could. I am confident that the S8 and Note 8 will be just as phenomenal as their previous products despite the Note 7 fiasco. I will be to a Note 8 or S8 and I am confident that Samsung will rise to the occasion. Happy Phoning!!!

I truly hope they do the plus version with 6 or 6.2″ display. I don´t like the 5.5″ display of the otherwise fantastic galaxy S7, it is a bit small for me and for a lot of people. For some reason, phones with screens larger than 5.7″ are very rare in the US, I hope during 2017 we get more options in that area

Competition is good. The consumer really wins in the end. We get the best product that tech and make at the time. It forces innovation for the next big thing. Look at how the iphone changed the world of communication since June 2007.

If the rumors are true this phones seems very nice. It looks fantastic. To answer you question of ” Will you still buy a Samsung smartphone following the Note 7 recall? ”
YES!
