Most Android smartphones include an IR port on the top of the device that can control your HDTV and other devices. In order to control a HDTV or another device like a DVR, cable box or satellite box with the iPhone 6 you need an adapter that the iPhone 6 connects to with Bluetooth and then turns it into IR that can control a HDTV.

The cheapest option we've seen is the $50 Philips Pronto, but if Apple can build in a small IR port more users would benefit from the feature. If Apple doesn't add IR to the iPhone 6s, perhaps they will add an IR blaster to a new Apple TV that the iPhone can then use to control more than just the Apple TV itself.
