Nexus Android Nougat Release: 5 Things to Know
Improved Performance & Battery Life

Another thing to be excited about aside from all the visual changes and new notifications, is performance and battery life. These two areas are key for a smartphone, and Google's worked tirelessly on it. Android 7.0 Nougat will be extremely fast and smooth, and battery life was a huge area of focus. Doze battery mode will fire up earlier, put apps into a deep sleep state, prevent wakelocks and rogue apps draining battery. As a result we're hoping for a least a 15-20% improvement across the board, if not more. In Android 6.0 Marshmallow Doze improved tablet battery life by 30%, and it will have a similar impact this time around, only for smartphones too. Our initial impressions of Android N have been extremely favorable. I've been running it on my Nexus 6P with no problems, and enjoying multi-screen support on the Pixel C since March. Try the beta today and enjoy a better, faster, improved Android experience.

Ummm, great. Another update I won’t get unless I but a new phone.
