At a time when more mobile games are getting away from co-operative play experiences on a single device, Nintendo is embracing them. At least, that’s what it appears to be doing with the Joy-Cons.

Players can use both Joy-Cons for single player experiences on the go. Games that feature multiplayer allow two users to take a Joy-Con and play their favorite titles together from the handheld. Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will support multiplayer with up to 8 other users in your physical area with handhelds of their own. Nintendo says that it'll introduce online multiplayer with both of these games too. Until the fall, online multiplayer for Nintendo Switch is completely free.
