A part of the LG G5 launch is a new portfolio of accessories, gadgets and add-on's that will be called "LG Friends". Things like the VR accessories mentioned above are all LG Friends, although the platform never really took off. In fact, LG ditched the idea completely with the LG G6 in 2017. That said, the LG Rolling Bot was one of our favorite accessories for the LG G5. It's called the LG G5 Rolling Bot and its part toy, part security camera, and loaded with features. The Rolling Bot acts like a Dropcam or home security system but can be controlled by the LG G5 similar to a Sphero or other toys available today. The LG Rolling Bot connects to a smartphone, tablet or computer via WiFi, and has a built-in speaker to talk to people or pets, an 8 megapixel wide-angle camera for home security, and an IR blaster to control a living room TV or entertainment system. It even has an IR laser to blast on walls to interact with cats or pets while you're away. The LG Bot works with select LG Air Conditioner units. Allowing owners to check-in on their home, or turn on a TV so it appears as if someone is home while on vacation, and much more. Finding it on sale is nearly impossible, but it was available to buy back in July of 2016. | |||||||||||||||

I would hardly call this phone “modular”. You can remove the battery, nothing new or fancy about that. What about different cameras and audio speakers or even a super bright flash light? Swapping out a battery and marketing it as the main modular feature is hardly innovative. At most, it is an attempt to trick buyers with a new “gimmick” . There is a reason why top phones discard this feature.

Dude. They do have those things. There is a mod for HiFi music quality that has another audio jack on it and a hand held camera mod with 1200mah extra battery life. I personally find no use for those and just swap battery, but that was incorrect.

Modular design is important with an all in one built body it allows you to swap batteries along with the opportunity for companies to design new modules. Okay it is a gimmick but if developed correctly can be very good

Pioneer to the modular phones. Keeping them mint is a challenge especially when you try changing the modules often. Try full body protectors like Gadgetshieldz to keep mint as I’m owning one from them.

LG needs an expandable SD slot magic slot accessory since they made the dual SIM model with a hybrid SD slot. (ie shared SD/SIM 2 slot)
