As we said earlier, at the tail end of 2018 LG removed the boss and head of its LG Mobile smartphone division. They replaced him with someone that is recognized for completely turning around LG's HDTV company, plans, and strategy to give Samsung and others a serious run for its money. LG makes some of the best screens and Smart TV's on the market.
So, wait for more information, especially as this new guy in charge starts putting his mark on things and changing up LG's plans. He could revive the LG Mobile division. We know the LG G8 will have the latest Snapdragon processor with the best performance on the market, 6-8GB of RAM, more storage, more cameras, a bigger screen and everything else people love. We know all of that. What we don't know is all of the specifics. Will LG be able to offer a bezel-free screen, in-display fingerprint scanner, and keep the dual-front cameras from the V40? If the fingerprint scanner is in the screen will they have room for the boombox speaker from the LG G7?
If not, what will they do differently? There are so many unanswered questions that the smart thing is to simply wait for a little more information. Plus, we could even see LG offer two different G8 phones to better compete with the dual-phone approach we're seeing from Samsung, Apple, and Google. Like an LG G8 Lite and a regular G8. |
